WakeCast Privacy Policy

Who is responsible

WakeCast is developed independently. For any privacy question, write to support@wake-cast.com.

What data is collected and why

• Name or alias, email address, and user ID, when you create an account: to identify you inside the app and your groups. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they share your name and email with us (Apple may give a private relay address instead of your real one).
• Profile photo and any photos you send inside a group: for the feature that wakes other members up with your recording.
• Voice recordings you send inside a group: this is the app's main feature.
• A device identifier for push notifications: so the app can alert you and ring your alarm.
• Technical diagnostics (crash reports and performance data), collected through Firebase and Google's SDKs: so we can find and fix problems.
• What you create inside the app (alarms, groups, settings, the stars and comments you give to recordings): so the app works.
• Your sheep balance and the record of purchases and rewards that changed it: so the in-app currency is credited and spent correctly.
• If you report a recording, the report itself (which recording and the date): so we can review it. The person reported is never told who reported them.

What is not collected

WakeCast does not ask your device for its location, and does not access your contacts, calendar, browsing history, financial data, or health data. Cities in the World Clock are chosen by hand, not by GPS. The only location-like data is the approximate area that Google AdMob can infer from your IP address when you watch a rewarded ad (see below).

Who it is shared with

Your alias, photo, and what you record inside a group are only seen by the other members of that group. We do not sell your data and do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. WakeCast uses no analytics tools and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Advertising and purchases

WakeCast offers optional rewarded ads: a video you choose to watch in exchange for sheep. Nothing is shown unless you ask for it. These ads are served by Google AdMob, which may collect your device identifiers, an approximate location inferred from your IP address, information about the ads you have seen and how you interact with them, and technical diagnostics, to deliver and measure the ads; where the law requires it, you are asked for your consent first. Purchases of sheep are processed by the store you buy from (Google Play), which tells us only that the purchase happened; we never see your payment details.

Providers

WakeCast uses Firebase (Google) for sign-in, data and file storage, and sending notifications, and Google AdMob for rewarded ads. All data travels encrypted. You can read Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

How long data is kept

For as long as your account exists. You can delete it along with all your data at any time; see how to delete your account.

Children

WakeCast is not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect information from children under that age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, this same page will be updated.

Third party: city and time zone data

The city and time zone data used by the World Clock comes from GeoNames.org, under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license.
