Privacy
What WakeCast keeps, where it keeps it, and for how long.
Your account
You can use the app without giving anything at all: an anonymous account is made for you. If you sign in with Google or with an email address, we keep that address so your account can be given back to you on another phone.
Your profile
The name and picture you choose, if you choose any. Only the people in your groups see them. A picture adopted from Google is kept as a link to Google's copy, not as one of ours.
The recordings
The audio you record to wake somebody is kept so it can be delivered, and is deleted automatically after 24 hours. Only people in that group can hear it. We do not listen to it, we do not analyse it, and it goes nowhere else.
Everything else
- Your groups, your alarms, and the daily draw of who wakes whom.
- An identifier for your phone, so notifications can reach it.
- The language you chose, so we write to you in it.
Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone: to record audio. Only while you are recording.
- Camera and photos: only if you set a profile or group picture.
- Notifications and alarms: so the alarm goes off at its hour.
Who holds it
All of it lives in Google Firebase, on servers in the European Union. There are no adverts, no third-party trackers, and nothing is sold to anybody.
Deleting it
You can leave any group whenever you like, and delete your alarms and recordings from inside the app. To delete the account itself and everything attached to it, write to us and we will.
